In February, PINZ staff attended a Review Seminar in Apia, for the ESPII (Education Sector II) Project. Project’s development partners – ADB, AusAID and NZAID - also attended along with senior staff from the Samoan Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MESC).
ESPII is a 4 year, sector-wide project that aims to establish a more equitable and effective education system in Samoa. PINZ is the lead consulting services firm and is partnering with local firm NUS Consulting (the consulting arm of the National University of Samoa). This project will see PINZ operating in Samoa with a total of 42 education specialists through until the end of 2012.

By May 2009, seven
of the ten international experts will be in Apia or travelling throughout the
islands, working with MESC to enhance the quality of education through
introducing curriculum reform and assessment systems; developing effective
teachers; and strengthening capacity to undertake research evaluation, policy
analysis, and planning. This very exciting and important project sees PINZ engaged
with the Pacific and playing a pivotal role in the reform and development of the
education sector in Samoa.
