At the annual performance recognition awards ceremony on 29 January 2009, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) presented to the Project Director and the Teaching Quality Improvement in Secondary Education Project (TQI-SEP) team, an award for outstanding performance in project implementation in 2008.
The TQI-SEP supports Government’s plans to reform and modernize the secondary education teacher training system in Bangladesh. Besides improving the quality of learning in secondary schools through improved teaching quality, the Project also pursues policy, institutional, and systemic developments required for sustainable development of teacher training.
At the awards ceremony, the ADB highlighted that of 75 current ADB projects in Bangladesh, four projects stood out, including the TQI-SEP. The Country Director for ADB’s Bangladesh Resident Mission who handed over the plaques and certificates to the winning project directors said that:
“The awards were given recognizing the project teams’ excellence in efficiency, integrity, transparency in procurement, effective project implementation, achievement of targets, innovations, strong leadership, overcoming project start-up delays, efforts in women’s empowerment, and other criteria,”
This award reflects the commitment shown and hard work put in by consultants, PINZ and partners’ teams, the project implementation team and the Government counterparts who have all made significant contributions to this ambitious five-year project.
