In November 2007 a PINZ consultant began work on the NZAID funded project,
Capacity Building in Timor Leste’s Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC).
Based in the capital Dili, the team is focused on improving management skills,
practices, structures and systems of the MEC and its staff.
The project, a sub-component of 3-5 year Timor Leste Government/NZAID
Capacity Building Programme, will run for 6 months and initially involves 3
international consultants. PINZ has provided a consultant with significant
education sector capacity building and institutional strengthening expertise.
The project team is assisting the MEC establish a Capacity Building Steering
Group (CBSG). The project builds towards the MEC and the CBSG taking the lead in
their capacity building and performance management. Additionally, the project
team is assisting the CBSG undertake an organizational assessment, and establish
clear change priorities and indicators of performance that link to MEC
monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
The team is now hard at work on the ground in Dili. As the project progresses
further updates will be added to the PINZ website.
