The discussion was predominantly focused on the TVET system in New Zealand. The delegation was very interested in the concept of life-long learning in New Zealand, whereby qualifications are transferable across different providers and people are encouraged to continue upskilling throughout their lives. Our models of indigenous and community education was also discussed, with the emphasis on working with communities and increasing community engagement in training and education.
This was the second time PINZ has received a delegation from Guangdong and it was great to continue our relationship with them. From our discussion, there are a number of possible collaborative activities that we will explore further, particularly around teacher training.
